In his first season there, Galante's special teams unit shone, with kicker Patrick Durkin claiming the American Conference's Special Teams Player of the Year title. Durkin's 24 field goals tied for second nationally, and his 66 touchbacks on 77 kicks ranked fifth.

Punter Alec Clark led the conference with a 46.82-yard average, and both he and Durkin earned AAC First-Team honors.
