Jack Doohan's Le Mans Debut: A Look at the 24-Hour Race Lineup (2026)

The world of endurance racing is about to get even more exciting with the highly anticipated debut of Jack Doohan at the iconic 24 Hours of Le Mans. This event, a true test of both driver skill and machine endurance, is set to showcase an impressive lineup of 62 cars across three categories.

What makes this particularly fascinating is the diverse range of talent and nationalities involved. From the Danish driver David Heinemeier Hansson to Great Britain's Edward Pearson, and now with the addition of Jack Doohan, the international flavor of this race is truly remarkable.

The Le Mans Lineup

In the LMP2 category, Doohan will be joining forces with Hansson and Pearson in the #24 car, a move that expands his European Le Mans Series program into the FIA World Endurance Championship. This category alone boasts an impressive 19 cars, each with its own unique story and strategy.

However, not all Australian hopes are intact, as the removal of United Autosports' McLaren 720S GT3 from the reserve list has dashed Garnett Patterson's chances of a Le Mans debut. On the other hand, Bronze driver Martin Berry is making a return with Iron Lynx in a Mercedes-AMG GT3, alongside Belgian Maxime Martin and Angolan Rui Andrade.

The FIA World Endurance Championship campaign continues for Yasser Shahin with Manthey Racing, backed by The Bend, in a Porsche 911 GT3 R with Italian Riccardo Pera and Austrian Richard Lietz.

Absentees and New Entries

While some Australian names are absent this year, including the father-son duo Stephen and Brenton Grove, the race still boasts an impressive Australian presence. Three New Zealanders are also set to make their mark, all in the Hypercar class.

Brendon Hartley, a familiar face at Le Mans, returns with Toyota, joined by Sébastien Buemi from Switzerland and Ryo Hirakawa from Japan in the #8 Toyota TR010. Cadillac's satellite squad, Team Jota, has Earl Bamber on board in the #38 V-Series.R, alongside French driver Sébastien Bourdais and Great Britain's Jack Aitken.

Another notable debut is that of Nick Cassidy, who will be making his Hypercar debut at Le Mans. He'll be partnering with British driver Paul Di Resta and Belgian Stoffel Vandoorne in the #93 Peugeot 9X8.

The 24 Hours of Le Mans, a true endurance classic, will take place on June 13-14, and I, for one, can't wait to see how this diverse lineup of drivers and cars performs under the pressure of this iconic race.

A Global Perspective

What many people don't realize is that Le Mans is more than just a race; it's a global gathering of automotive enthusiasts and a true test of human determination. The international nature of the event adds an extra layer of intrigue, as different driving styles and strategies come into play.

From my perspective, the diversity of talent and the unique stories each driver brings to the track make Le Mans an event like no other. It's a celebration of automotive excellence and a true test of the human spirit.

So, mark your calendars, and get ready for an unforgettable weekend of racing at the 24 Hours of Le Mans!
